Neil Ieremia, the founder and inspiration behind Black Grace, is the Starmap Champion for the month of February 2009. Fresh from Black Grace’s sell out tour to North America and Canada, including a season at the prestigious Kennedy Centre in Washington DC, Neil has been busy preparing Gathering Clouds, a brand new full-length work which promises to be “beautiful in its fury”. Gathering Clouds will debut on the 5th of March at The Civic on the opening weekend of the Auckland Festival 2009, before continuing to major centres around the North Island including Wellington, Manukau, Kerikeri and Hamilton. Neil Ieremia has been at the forefront of New Zealand and Pacific contemporary for the last 13 years and is keen to support up-and-coming contemporary Pacific dancers and choreographers.
